Mastery: This Is The Best Book I've Read In A While
Issue No. 40 | October 2nd, 2023 | Read Time: 2 Minutes
Happy Monday Everyone!
I read a lot. Honestly probably too much.
And despite reading well over 150 books, I've only read a handful that have truly stopped me in my tracks.
I'm not saying every book I've read is bad, but there's a difference between a good book and a
life-changing
book.
They're definitely out there. It just takes time to find them.
And the book I'm reading now is one of them.
It's titled
Relentless
by Tim S. Grover.
Tim Grover has been a trainer to some of the most elite and iconic athletes in the world including the late Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade, and Michael Jordan.
And it's these types of people who Grover calls
Cleaners
.
A Cleaner is someone who's never satisfied. Someone who takes responsibility for their actions and pushes themselves harder than anyone else around them
They don't love the fame, they're addicted to the results. And every time they achieve a goal, they simply move on to the next one.
Because in order to be relentless, you must be unstoppable.
Throughout the book, Grover shares his experience working with his clients like Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant and their ability to get back on the court regardless of how they were feeling.
How they'd be training during the off-season when everyone else would be partying and taking a load off.
But this isn't a book about how great Kobe or Michael is.
It's a book on how to be like them.
Grover goes on to say that the only thing players like Kobe and Michael are doing is putting in more time and effort.
As long as you commit to whatever is making it work for them, what's stopping you from experiencing the same success they did?
Yes, it's going to hurt.
Yes, it's going to be late nights.
Yes, it's going to be early mornings.
Yes, there will be times when you'll want to quit.
But the ability to push past that is what makes you relentless.
Whatever it is that you're doing now, you can experience profound success. Because all it comes down to is mindset and thick skin.
And the only person who can change what you think you're capable of is you.
If they can do it, why can't you?
So become unstoppable. Because if you never quit, you're bound to succeed.
Until next time,
