Mastery: The Art Of Productivity And Getting More Done

Happy Monday Everyone!

As part of the growing movement in personal-development, we've become surrounded by a plethora of productivity enthusiast and gurus that we've begun to lose track of the foundation of what it means to be truly productive.

We hear that as long as we create an early morning routine, a detailed to-do list, and meditate, we too can be productive.

Putting these modern clichés aside, I believe there's 3 lessons hidden within the world of productivity that we all need to adopt in order to master the art of getting more done.

Lesson #1: It's Not About Doing Everything Right

Productivity is about doing the right things, not about doing everything right.

We tend to get so caught up in making to-do lists that include 100 different tasks that we'd

like

to get done for the day, when we should be focusing on the 1-3 tasks we

need

to get done for the day.

So don't focus on doing tasks that provide you with a sense of temporary achievement. Focus on doing tasks that will lead to long-term accomplishment.

Lesson #2: Make The Time, Don't Find It

You're never going to find time because we all tend to live busy lives. So you have to eliminate what's destroying you in order to adopt what will help you.

We tend to think that as long as we're staying busy, we're being productive. So when we're tasked with trying to find time in our day to make room for something else, we never seem to find it.

Instead of looking for free time, simply make time by removing a negative habit that would only distract you from the new one.

Doing this will eliminate that distraction from pulling you away from what's important. So you not only make time, but you ensure you dedicate it solely to your goals.

Lesson #3: Eat That Frog

Coined by Brain Tracy, he explains that we should eat the frog in order to overcome procrastination and become productive.

This is the practice of doing our most difficult task (the frog) of the day first thing in the morning.

By doing the most difficult thing first, you create a solid foundation to start your day with and ensure you won't put it off any longer rather than succumbing to productivity's enemy: procrastination.

Mastering the art of productivity is all about having the discipline to do your work in the present moment. To be able to put off temporary pleasure for the pursuit of long-term achievement. But just like any other skill productivity can be learned, you just need to make the conscious decision between choosing what you want now, and what you want most.Until next time,Isaiah Taylor
