3-Minute Mastery: The Hesitant Farmer And Why You Should Start Now

Issue No. 156 | December 22nd, 2025

Today marks three years since I first started writing this newsletter.

What’s funny is that when I first came up with the idea, I was hesitant to start because I felt like I was already too far behind. As if it was too late for me to begin writing.

I kept telling myself, “You’re already 22 years old, you should’ve started back when you were 18. It’s too late.”

At the time, little did I know I’d still be writing these three years later with the intent to keep going. I could have only wished to be at this point three years ago, but in order to get here, all I had to do was start.

Back when I was contemplating it, I remember I was seeking some advice and came upon this story that ultimately led me to start 3-Minute Mastery:

There was once a farmer who refused to plant anything because the soil was too dry. And so, he waited.

Eventually, the soil began to take in water, but only to become too wet for the farmer. And so, he waited.

The soil soon became just right, but the farmer noticed the wind was now too strong for his liking. And so, he waited.

Seasons passed and nearby farmers planted their crops anyways. It might’ve been imperfect weather, but they still harvested something of value.

All the while, our hesitant farmer planted nothing. Still waiting for the ‘perfect’ moment.

I suppose I realized it’s better to have something now than simply wish you had something already.

Yeah, it means you have to accept the fact you’re starting from scratch. But that doesn’t mean you’re any less valuable than the next person. And before you know it, you’ll be three years down the line still doing what you were first hesitant to even start.

So whatever it is, don’t be ashamed that you didn’t start sooner. Be determined to start now.

Until next time,
Isaiah Taylor
