3-Minute Mastery: Make The Choice
Issue No. 172 | April 20th, 2026
Don’t ask me who, but a long time ago I was listening to an interview when I heard a quote that stuck with me. It’s about making a decision when there’s two paths in your life. A moment when you can’t decide which to take.
“In life, you either make the decision to find the discipline to keep going. Or, summon the knowledge to decide when to change direction.”
For a lot of us, we might be headed down this road that we think we’re too invested in. That we’ve put too much effort in to give up now. But maybe, somewhere along the way, we begin to figure out it’s not for us. That deep down we want something different.
Any monumental life choice is going to hurt in the beginning. And it’s that fear of entering something new or starting all over again that deters us from making that decision. We treat life as a one-and-done type of game when life is all about learning who we are and making changes according to who we realize we’ve become.
There are very few decisions in life that aren’t reversible. Again, you might lose time invested, money, friends, or education, but that shouldn’t deter you from making a choice that will gain all that back and more.
The longer you stay on the current path you’re on, the harder it is to get off later down the road. As I’ve mentioned before in this very newsletter, the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.
Having the knowledge to not only know what you want, but the courage to make it happen is something you’ll thank yourself later down the line. It might hurt now. But when have you ever achieved something valuable that didn’t hurt at some point?
It starts and ends with you.
Until next time,
