3-Minute Mastery: For You

Issue No. 186 | July 27th, 2026

Do you ever wonder, “Why me?”

Your car breaks down right after you paid your bills. A close family member passes away. Your roof starts leaking. Or maybe even something as small as getting sick at a bad time.

One of the first things we ask is, “Why me, why now?” It almost seems like the Universe or God is out to get us. But as I’ve talked about in my book It’s Not As Bad As You Think, we need to stop looking at negative events as something to break us, rather, look at them as something that will build us.

Sadly, not everything has some reward waiting for you at the end of it. But, that doesn’t mean you can’t learn from it. To experience something that will give you the opportunity to say, “I understand how you feel,” to someone else who’s going through that exact same scenario.

I’ve learned that instead of wondering “Why me” and the purpose behind why you’re being challenged, shift your perspective and tell yourself that this is happening For Me.

For you to learn patience.

For you to learn sympathy.

For you to learn love.

Knowing how to shift that perspective when things get rough is what will separate you from everyone else. While others are blaming God, you’re thanking him for the challenge because you know it’s all a part of the plan to make you into the best person you can be.

Life is too short to dissect every negative thing that happens to you. Learn to live with the obstacles, and know it’s not as bad as you think.
