3-Minute Mastery: Expand Your Horizon
Issue No. 174 | May 4th, 2026
Years ago, one of the first introductions I got to Tony Robbins was through a short video where it shows him talking to a young man who was having doubts about his life.
In it, Tony shares how “we overestimate what we can do in a year. And underestimate what we can do in two or three decades.” And that if you give yourself time and love, you can find out how much you truly have to offer the world.
In just five minutes, he changed the entire perspective of a man who had lost all hope.
And I think that’s something we should carry into our own lives. To realize if we’re upset or depressed about what’s happening right now, maybe we just need to expand our horizon.
It doesn’t necessarily have to be 30 years. But instead of imagining yourself in one or two months, think about what you can achieve in the next five years. And whatever you imagine, multiply it by ten. That outcome is probably far more likely because you’ve finally given yourself the grace to do so.
It’s just like the zoom out method the Stoics taught. When you’re so hyper focused on one moment in your life, everything just seems to be going wrong. But when you spread out and think far, you make room for a lot more.
So instead of making a weekly or monthly goal, sit down and think about where you’d like to be in five, ten, or twenty years. And work backwards.
You might be surprised at how much you can achieve.
Until next time,
Isaiah Taylor
